Pete, rocking
everyone's lame ass during his set at the Grab Bag
release party, January 22, 1999. This was the culmination of five years
of hard work on our debut CD. If Pete hadn't had to do two sets that night--preceded
by two weeks of eighteen-hour days--he might have been able to relax and
enjoy it a little more. As it was, he was reduced to smoking stogies in
our green room to shore up his rapidly failing voice. Pete is unquestionably
the most talented musician I have ever known. It was due in large part
to his relocation to Napa that I gave up performing. After eight years
of working with someone who can learn an instrument in a day, there's
nowhere to go but down. We had a lot of good times, though. And I'm proud
to have been the one who ultimately released his solo debut. As for Lost
Causes, that second album was on its way to being great. I like to think
our partnership brought out the best in him...
